A character-driven, feature-length documentary exploring what redemption looks like for 50 men society has deemed irredeemable.
“The 50” were the first inmates to participate in and complete the Offender Mentor Certification Program (OMCP), a first of its kind rehabilitation program. The film follows their lives through childhood, pre and early prison, through their experience with OMCP and to the present as California Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselors and men working to live virtuous lives on the outside.
A story of rehabilitation and redemption for those society has deemed irredeemable, The 50 asks the audience to reevaluate their judgments of the country’s prison population and imagine the positive change possible if the prison system took rehabilitation seriously.
